KINU is a brand that combines traditional Japanese wisdom and modern thinking with the liberating and unique sense of "Bali", Indonesia. Kinu means silk in Japanese, a fabric that is comfortable and gentle to the skin. Silk stays cool during the hot summer months and keeps you warm when the cold winters.

KINU products have the same support as silk does, comfortable to wear and gentle to the skin.They’re conceived to be comfortable and relaxing by selecting the best materials, including silk.

About Yuka Ueda

Yuka Ueda is a Bali-based textile designer and batik artist. She grew up in a kimono shop in Osaka, Japan. She studied visual design at Kyoto College of Art and learned YUZEN-ZOME, a traditional Japanese dyeing technique. Later, she trained under Ayako Chiba and Hiromichi Narusawa, renowned textile artists.

Since 2010, Yuka has worked in Bali, collaborating with Javanese batik craftsmen.

She designs for Botree fashion in Ubud and created staff uniforms for Hoshinoya Bali.

Yuka partnered with Hiroya Asari in Thailand in 2015. She showcased her work at various exhibits, including in Kyoto and Tokyo. In 2018, her designs were displayed at prestigious Japanese stores like Matsuya in Ginza and Isetan in Shinjuku.

She creates textile art, home furnishings, and personal accessories. Her designs blend ancient batik traditions with modern aesthetics, producing stunning works for today's world.
